Teachers Service Commission became a permanent constitutional Commission in 2015 with the outgoing Chairperson Lydia Nzomo as the first chair.
The commission is made up of nine Commissioners but currently has seven due to retirement of Cleophas Tirop and Nzomo who are yet to be replaced.
It draws it's Mandate from article 237 of the Constitution and it's roles include Registering teachers and promoting them among others.
The TSC's policies are implemented by the secretariate which is headed by a CEO who also doubles up as the commision Secretary.
The secretariate has regional offices in former provincial headquarters which are headed by TSC regional directors. County Headquarters are headed by county Directors.
The commission has effected transfer of TSC regional county Director for western Mr Onono who will become the new regional director for Eastern region and will be replaced by madam Beatrice.
Okisai urged principals to release their deputies who have been deployed for purposes of records in a Message that he posted on kuppet WhatsApp wall.
"Good morning Leaders
This is to inform you that our TSC Regional Director Mr Onono is moving out on transfer to Eastern Region and we are receiving a new TSC RD Western Madam Lilian. The handing/taking over exercise is today.
Meanwhile those who have had their Deputies deployed or transferred should release them immediately to enable us give the status report by end of this week.
This is our second week of opening schools. The TSC officers may not have reached every school but you are asked to continue taking personal responsibility to ensure compliance to the MOPH Guidelines and Protocols on containment of COVID-19 in your institutions
Good day. Stay safe" read the message.
