Today is Sunday eleventh of April the year two thousand and twenty one.It is the 16th day since the sudden closure of all learning and teaching Institutions that came from the president's order as a result of the rapid increase of corona virus cases in Kenya.
Education is one of the major sectors in Kenya that has been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.Recently some university students wrote a letter to Mr.President complaining about overstaying in school. We are not yet safe as the third wave of corona virus is still at its peak, yesterday alone Kenya recorded one thousand and thirty Corona virus cases as well as twenty one death cases.
My opinion as a concerned Kenyan citizen is that if at all schools are to be reopened then let only tertiary institutions to reopen first as others wait for the curve to atleast flatten. My opinion is based on the following reasons.
The first reason is that tertiary students are mature enough thus are able to strictly adhere to Covid-19 measures with or without anyone's supervision compared to Primary school pupils and secondary school students.
The second reason is that many tertiary students stay outside school compound thus prevention of unnecessary congestion is very easy as compared to primary school pupils and secondary school students. However, the students should be vaccinated first before going back to school.
