It’s a major blow to parents whose children had exemplary result in 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). The Leaners who achieved 400 marks and above from poor families were to secure free government scholarship and wings to fly sponsored by equity bank.
Reports indicates that parents had bold hope over school fees payment for secondary education as they expected the sponsorship after application. As reports outlines, 104,000 students will miss bursary as government and wing to fly program picks only 10,705 applicants for four years study support.
The 104,000 students from poor background will fail to join form one expected to resume next month as they were locked out by the program in securing bursary to finance their secondary education. Reports outlines those 114,765 pupils who sat for 2020 kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) applied for government support under Elimu government scholarship program and equity bank Wings to fly Foundation.
As Per reports, the cabinet secretary of education Prof George Magoha has not responded to the issue as leaners expected to report in school next month. Parents are working on preparedness to take their pupils to Secondary school as others stranded due as their children locked out of scholarship program.
