The TSC announced mandatory TPD modules for all teachers, teachers decided to move to court to see if the program will be suspended. However, the Supreme court has ruled in their favour. The Judges revealed that the court has no power to intervene in the TSC's constitution.

According to the decision, it hurts the teachers because there is nothing they can do but to prepare to return to class and continue training as instructed by their employer.

Therefore it is sad news for teachers following a court ruling on the case against the Teacher Professional Development Program Modules. It is now clear that teachers must to class.

The supreme court ruled in favour of the TPD modules because it is the responsibility of the Teachers Service Commission to design and implement a training program for the benefit of the education sector.

In additional, the court ordered the TSC to look for ways to pay for modules Instead of teachers paying for the training program. Last week the commission said teachers would pay Kshs 6000 per module.

With things on the ground the only hope left for teachers in their case against TPD is parliament. The case is being re assigned to parliament, where the education committee has been given seven days to decide whether to suspend the training or not.
