The vessel dubbed semester at sea operates the World’s floating campus, and is an academic voyage for students who get to conduct classes aboard the ship.
Cabinet Secretary Tourism Culture and Wildlife Penina Malonza was at the Port to receive the vessel together with KPA Ag MD John Mwangemi and other officials from Kenya Tourism Board
According to the report issued by KPA, the floating campus ship is carrying 800 passengers, of which 500 are students who will also be learning about Kenya as part of their semester studies.
The Semester at Sea started its journey in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on 9th September 2022 and has cruised to Lisbon-Portugal, Casablanca- Morocco, Valencia- Spain, Dubrovnik- Croatia, Piraeus-Greece, Limassol -Cyprus, Aqaba in Jordan and now Mombasa-Kenya.
The ship shall remain in Mombasa for the next five days during which the passengers will get an opportunity to tour and sample some tourist sites like Fort Jesus, Haller Park, and the Tsavo National Park
