The management of Uzima college in kisumu has been given six months to discontinue medical courses at the institution and distribute their students to other universities.
This directive comes after an inspection of institutions offering medical courses in Kenya found the institution to be only 49 percent compliant with the requirements.
The exercise was conducted by the National Medical and Dental Practitioners Council between March 4 and 6 this year.
Uzima has been found to only use part-time lecturers and having unqualified heads of department. The team also found out that the university was conducting lecturers in an unfinished building and it had admitted number of students exceeding the limit allocated to them.
