Poor remuneration and high teacher-student ration are two factors that have been negatively affecting teachers. The ratio has been large which means one teacher has been handling extreme large number of students at once. This ratio has been affecting the performance of the learners as students are not served adequately by the teachers due to the work overload.
The new administration of President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua promised to cut this ratio by employing teachers. And now the good news is that, the government is set to employ Thirty thousand (30,000) teachers by January. Making this announcement, the cabinet secretary of education Machogu, said that the government will additional 30,000 teachers by January next year.
With the large number of trained teachers in the country, employing the teachers could also reduce the level of unemployment in the field of eduction. This act by the government will help to reduce the ratio which could boost the performance of learners at school. The government is also set to work on salary increment for all teachers both at secondary and primary levels.
