Promotion of Children's Rights Is to Blame for Indiscipline, Nominated Mp Prof. Oduol Says

Orange Democratic movement (ODM) Party nominated MP Prof. Jacqueline Oduol now blames Non-governmental Organization for the high rate of indiscipline in schools across the country.

According to the legislator, the influz of the NGOs that support to be championing for children's rights is what has greatly contributed to the increasing rate of unruliness in schools.

She argues that the NGOs have poisoned the minds of children with the numerous rights which they are told to be having, making them very undisciplined because parents and teachers are also restricted from instilling appropriate discipline on them.

Speaking to Ramogi FM on Saturday, Prof. Oduol claimed the government has allowed control of the Kenyan children into the hands of NGOs, saying it needs to be re-evaluated if discipline is to be restored.

The MP, who is also an educationist, wants the government to enhance guiding and counseling services in schools by training and engaging more counsellors in the learning institutions.

She says that the management of children should be left in the hands of teachers and parents so that they can guide the learners even as they give them room to exercise their rights.
