
The fraternity of Our Lady of Mercy Rangenyo Girls' High School is in mourning following the sudden demise of their principal Lydia Onyoni.
Madam Lydia was attacked by unknown people at her residence in the school compound located at the outskirts of Nyamira town. The mission of the attack remains unclear.
She was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Refferal hospital but sadly succumbed to the injuries as she was receiving treatment.
She has been mourned as a principal who was very articulate and dedicated to her duties as an administrator.
Egesa FM radio presenter Sorobi Moturi revealed that she was an Education resource expert during Kanyeka show.

Rangenyo Girls' High School scored impressively well in the KCSE 2021. They had a mean of 7.9 (B minus). Out of the 125 students who sat for the KCSE, 114 were admitted to Universities meaning that there was a 91.2% direct entry.
