The Ministry of Health has informed Kenyans that today Sunday 25th April 2021 that 469 people have tested positive for the virus from a total sample of 4,194. The positivity rate as at today is at 12% a slight rise of the rate with 1% because yesterday the rate was 11%.
In matters concerning education the Ministry of Health has insisted that it will reopen schools on May 10th but in the todays positivity rate the government in my opinion may reschedule the reopening of the school because:
1) The president on his last speech said he will reopen the country when we will have been able to fight the virus.
2) The curve is on the rise and the schools are currently closed. If schools reopen we will expect the virus to go surge since in schools there is no social distancing and also it is a form of social gatherings.
3) The second dose of the Vaccine will be expected to arrive in Kenya on June and by saying so the teachers will not receive the vaccine by May and that does not guarantee them full immunity to the virus so the government can decide to reopen school on other dates.
