President Uhuru Kenyatta today addressed the nation while marking the labour day celebrations which were held under tight covid-19 measures at State House.
During his speech, Uhuru took the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of Bedi investments who have been supplying masks and PPEs as he congratulated them . However some counties to register high cases of Coronavirus and as a result positivity rate in the country is still high. Therefore school reopening will continue to trigger increase in covid 19 cases which will eventually lead to school closure again.
The president order Reopening Of Schools base on the calendar put in place by the ministry of education. However Astrazeneca Vaccine is currently unavailable in the country and therefore any rise in covid 19 cases will result to closure of learning institution just a few months after reopening. The ministry of health promised kenyans that the astrazeneca vaccine will be available by June meaning that there's no jab currently.
Therefore, basing on the above highlighted reasons it is my concern that schools Should remain closed until all students and teachers get vaccinated.
