Teachers union congratulates DP Ruto, vows to work with him

Teachers unions have congratulated DP Ruto on his win in the just concluded Presidential elections.

The Kenya National Union of Teachers and Kenya Union of Post Primary Education today congratulated DP Ruto following after winning the hotly contested August presidential elections.

Knut Secretary General, Collins Oyuu, confirmed that the teachers union has promised to work with Ruto as the president-elect.

"Knut National Steering, National Executive Council, the 47 Knut County fraternity, together with 110 branches of Knut plus all the teachers of Kenya send you our congratulatory message on your victory," said Oyuu.

Oyuu stated that DP Ruto has shown statesmanship in his acceptance remarks and this made him happy and that is a good thing.

Ruto defeated his closest challenger Raila Odinga, 77, who was running under the rival Azimio la Umoja (Unity Declaration) coalition.

He becomes Kenya’s first sitting deputy president to succeed the incumbent following competitive elections and first candidate to win the presidency at first attempt.
