TSC Reveals The Criteria Used For Categorizing Teachers In Both Senior And Junior Secondary Schools

Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is the only commission in Kenya the is responsible with teachers recruitment, promotion and transfer from one working station to another.

The Commission which is currently under the leadership of Dr. Nancy Macharia who is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has been working hard to ensure that schools are equipped with enough teachers.

In a bid to ensure that all teachers are ready to fit into the Competence Based Curriculum (CBC), which is in the process of being implemented, TSC has come up with a plan of categorizing teachers who will be expected to handle learners in both Junior and Senior Secondary Schools.

According to Teachers Service Commission, primary school teachers with Diploma certificates and those who scored a C+ in the Kenya Certificate for Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) will be allowed to teach junior secondary schools.

On the other hand, teachers who are currently teaching in Secondary Schools will be allowed to handle learners in Senior Secondary Schools.
