246 Receive Equity Bank Scholarships In Bungoma.

246 pupils from needy background have been taken up on the popular Equity Bank Wings to fly scholarship.

Pupils who qualified for wings to fly scholarship at the launch, source files.

The program targets pupils who got high marks and whose backgrounds cannot pay fees and sustain them in school.

The pupils will have all their fees, pocket money, shopping and uniform paid by the bank.

In addition, they are taken through a mentorship program as they proceed with their studies.

The program is continuous and targets uplifting the literacy standards in all the 47 counties in Kenya.

This is party of Equity bank's corporate social responsibility to give bank to the society.

Speaking during the official commissioning of the program, Equity Bungoma branch manager Stephen Wasiche assured residents of Bungoma that the bank is determined to uplift the needy in the county.

"We shall keep on helping the needy children to attain their goals through this program," he said.

Bungoma county commissioner Samuel Kimiti used the opportunity to advise the successful pupils to refrain from radicalized groups while at school so that they transform into responsible citizens in the future.

Also in attendance were Bungoma County Executive member for Education Betty Mayeku, Caleb Omondi from the quality assurance.

9009 pupils have benefitted from the wings to fly and Elimu scholarship this year and 37,009 cumulatively.
