The Kakamega Governor Wickliffe Oparanya has condemned the school principals of those schools who witnessed fire damages for overcharging the parents.He added that has received calls from various parents of being overcharged.
Also points out Kakamega high school which have over three thousands students where every students must pay 9823 Kenya shillings each.He further state the government have their own protocols of dealing with such incidents and advise to consult the authorities and contractors as well as engineers before doing the billings.
In order to minimize fire incidents the school should implement regularly repairing of meter boxes and change of old wires since naked wires may burst into flames when they get in contact.
Installing circuits breakers in all building in order to control amount of electricity per unit area.Besides they should install CCTV cameras to help in inspection inorder to create awareness Incase of fire incidents.
Educate the learners how to operate the switches and caution them through imposing poster to keep on reminding them on the guidelines and dangers of electricity.
