Kipsigis girls high school is a girls only boarding national secondary school located in Kericho town along Litein-Kericho road, Kericho County, Kenya. The school was founded in 1955 as an African Girls Boarding school with a student population of one hundred and forty.
In 1965, only two years after Kenya attained its self internal rule, Kipsigis girls was elevated to a national level secondary school by the ministry of education.
The school is ranked among the top performing national schools in the country. It is an important academic powerhouse in Kenya. In 2020 KCSE examination, Kipsigis girls registered a total of 267 candidates and managed to obtain a mean score of 8.902 which is a B (plain). Notably, out of the 267 candidates 255 were able to score above C+ (plus) which is the minimum university entry grade in Kenya under the placement body KUCCPS.
Today October 24, 2021, Kipsigis girls has been closed abruptly, hours after the students went on strike, trooping into the streets of Kericho town. The students were protesting against the transfer of their principal, Mrs. Juliana Kirui. Mrs. Juliana was replaced with Mrs. Christine Chumba who was the then principal of Moi girls national high school in Eldoret.
