2022 KCSE Candidates eagerly await to be placed by Kuccps in different institutions for the first university selection they made at school.
Bad news has come as details reveal what State Department of Higher Education tabled as a proposal for higher education 2023-2024 budget.
In this proposal, Kuccps was requested not to place government sponsored students into private universities because the proposal seeks not to fund them. What is the effect of this?
Since government universities are few, agreement to fund private universities was made to ensure that students with C+ could not miss joining university.
If this proposal is passed, many students who scored C+ will be at the verge of missing out higher education, unless they dig deep into their pockets to pay the high cost of now studying in a private university after withdraw of government's funding.
Private universities rely so much on government funding, if the above decision is made, it will face a big challenge that would see it raise the cost of a student studying in them.
This will be a big blow to parents who are struggling to get their children educated. Do you think that parliament should approve this? Please share with us in the comments section below. Thank you for reading this article.
