Family of Benson Mbundi is in deep mourning after their child whose star was about to shine fell sick. After a good performance in KCSE national examination, Benson applied for a scholarship program which went through.
He was very happy that he was going to study in Texas City in the USA after being granted the full scholarship. However, before traveling to USA, Benson went to Kisii to attended a relative's burial as well as have a farewell ceremony with his extended family.
This did not turn out well because after the farewell ceremony, Benson fell ill. His legs became weak and he could not walk. As his day of traveling to the USA neared, it even became worse.
Benson went into a comma. His family attempts to find a doctor who could treat him proved futile as Benson's condition continued worsening. Although he woke up from his comma, he became paralyzed.
It is now 24 years down the line and Benson is still in the same condition. His dream to get higher education was completely shuttered. He said that he regrets to have revealed to people about his fortune.
He sent his plea to Kisii governor Simba Arat to buy him a wheelchair so that he can be able to maneuver around.
