President William Samoei Ruto's powerful Cabinet Secretary Hon Ezekiel Machogu is in tight corner after being grilled on how he spent millions of shillings since succeeding former Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha.
Ezekiel Machogu is reported to have spent a total of Ksh 800 million on school feeding programs including Ksh 2 million on salt. The powerful CS was to explain how his ministry utilized the cash since assuming office. The school feeding program was introduced in several primary schools especially those in areas that have been affected by drought.
This is not the first time that Education CS Ezekiel Mochogu has found himself surrounded by controversy. Weeks ago he found himself under fire after making controversial statements that the National government will stop sponsoring public universities so that they can generate ways of raising their revenue.
He was forced to retract his statement saying that he was misquoted by the public and insisted that the government will continue to fund all public universities to ensure Kenyans get quality education.
All attention will now focus on the Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Mochogu and other relevant institutions to see what will transpire in the coming days as far as the Ksh 800m is concerned and if it was well spent.
