The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) automated the process of applying for a leave on Wednesday, December 1st.
"Our leave application process is now completely automated. Teachers can now apply on our website," the commission made the announcement.
This announcement comes as a large relief for Kenyan teachers as the process of applying for a leave had been hard and tedious. Moving with papers to different offices took a lot of time and also inconvenienced the teachers.
Kenyan teachers who are employed by the commission can get a leave of up to 42 days. Many teachers prefer to get their leave during school holidays.
Female teachers in the country are given 90 days of maternity leave while male teachers are given 10 days within the same period.
Teachers are also given another 15 days(maximum) if their dependents are sick, hospitalized or dead.
