Rachel Ruto Holds a High Profile Meeting With TSC Chairperson, Agenda of The Meeting Disclosed

First lady of the Republic of Kenya met Dr.Jamleck Muturi John, Chairperson of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) who paid a courtesy call at State House today Thursday, November 3.

The agenda of the meeting has been disclosed by First Lady Rachel Ruto on social media. The discussions in the meeting focused on a variety of issues concerning schools and the well-being of the key players together with primarily teachers and students.

As a teacher, The First Lady recognizes that everyone has a role to play in achieving desired learning outcomes. She has also pledged to assist stakeholders as needed.

However, The Teachers Service Commission is an Independent government Commission established under the Constitution of Kenya.

It ensures that thuman resources within the education sector are well managed. The role of the commission as defined in the constitution are to register trained teachers, recruit and employ registered teachers.

Other roles include assigning teachers employed by the commission for service in any public school or institution and also promote and transfer teachers.

Exercise disciplinary control over teachers in the country, terminate the employment of teachers contract, reviewing the standards of education and training of persons entering the teaching service are also among roles played by TSC.

Further, the commission also reviews the demand for and the supply of teachers. It also advise the national government on matters relating to the teaching profession among Kenyans.
