It Will Be Worse, Netizens Disagree With CS Magoha On Return Of Punishment in Schools

Education CS George Magoha and Interior Affairs CS Fred Matiangi on Monday hinted about the return of punishment in schools.

The two argued that students should be punished as a way of curbing indiscipline cases.

Lack of discipline amongst learners has been greatly attributed to the unrest and burning of schools.

Magoha stated that they were discussing on the best forms of punishment for learners.

He said that not only teachers but also parents have a duty of punishing their children while at home.

Some of the forms of punishments that existed before include canning, expulsion, suspension and manual work.

Rejection:

A huge section of Kenyans arehowever saying that re-introducing such forms of punishment will make the situation worse.

They have commented on how likely the students will react violently, even to an extent of beating teachers.

They have not given any better solution but maintain that punishing them is something of the past.

"Do you think if they can burn the school what makes them not beat up the teachers? This students are capable of anything," said Barrack.
