Two Kenyans won in the community program that is funded by Facebook. The report given by Facebook noted that Samuel Mwaniki, a teacher and Wala Amakove, a doctor were among other global winners who received the award.
Through out the African continent, there were just 13 winners out of the 13,000 participants of the program. According to the Statement by the Facebook management, each of the winners will get mentorship, training as well as a reward of Ksh. 5 million. The program is meant to invest in people who have a positive impact to the community in which they dwell.
The 13 winners had involved themselves in various activities in their communities. These includes helping the needy and sharing incredible stories with different people. Mwaniki's reward was because of his tireless efforts to bring teachers together to build strong relationships as well as share job opportunities.
Dr. Wala Amakove
Doctor Amakove on the other side brought together travellers and made groups where they shared stories in April when the Corona pandemic was hastening through the nations. The groups in return promoted tourism in the country and other African countries and this way community development was promoted.
