Criteria For Posting CBC Pupils to Junior Secondary

Fresh details have emerged revealing criteria the ministry of education is likely to embrace for posting CBC pupils to junior secondary. Under the new curriculum, primary education is divided into pre-primary and primary education, taking two and six years, respectively. Therefore parents and guardians are anxiously waiting for criteria for posting the current class six students to class seven (first junior secondary).

Students in the junior secondary are taken through the core subjects and a maximum of two optional subjects.

Therefore the optional subjects are Home science, computer studies, Foreign language, Kenyan language and indigenous languages.

Therefore grade seven learners will be posted based on the distance to their former primary school, subject selection and performance. Under the new curriculum, elementary education is divided into pre-primary and primary education, taking two and six years.

Cyrus Oguna said that the government had pulled all the stops and was optimsimic the new curriculum would succeed.

According the report shared by the department tasked with overseeing the implementation of CBC said on Monday, May 9, that pupils would be admitted to junior high school based on the distance to their former primary school, subject selection and performance.
