JKUAT student who had A- in KCSE and was later made to sleep in a bush

After leaving the institution, Brian Kamau, who received an A- (minus) on his 2014 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), was made to live in a bush in Kahawa Wendani.

All that young man wants, according to his friend Mbugua, "is to reunite with his divorced parents, his dad and mother, and if at all possible, return to JKUAT and finish his course."

After quitting his Control and Instrumentation programme at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kamau told Mbugua that his problems started.

His peers, who were succeeding and drove "large" cars as a result of their academic writing, influenced him. Kamau tried to buy an account with his savings but it didn't work.

"I believe he made the wrong friends in school. Because he lacked competence, the academic writing account he purchased failed, Mbugua stated.

Later, Kamau found work at a nearby carwash, but the common cold that comes with that job forced him to stop due to other health issues.

At that point, he started living in the jungle after resorting to wheeling a cart, known as a mkokoteni, because his income was insufficient to pay for a rental.

The local chief was intrigued by the tale and contacted Mbugua and Kamau's parents.

His classmates from high school, including the professors and the principal, came to his aid once his story went viral.

"His high school classmates from Nanyuki called me frequently. They informed me that Kamau consistently placed first in the class, Mbugua said.

Before accompanying Kamau to Nanyuki, Laikipia County, to see his father, they went ahead and gave him a place to shower and a change of clothes.

Mwangi Kiunjuri, a Laikipia East MP, allegedly promised to support the young man after he completed the required counseling, according to Mbugua.
