The County has so far awarded scholarships to some 204 students or 12 per cent of the student population in the school. They include 16 in Form 4, 35 in Form 3, 40 in Form 2 and 113 in Form 1.
Over the last one month, Governor Wangamati commenced on school visits as part of playing his role as a parent to assess the performance of scholarship beneficiaries and in order to encourage them to be the best versions of themselves.
On such visits, the Governor listens to the beneficiaries as they share their dreams and aspirations in a one-on-one sesssion. On his part, the Governor always commits to play his part as a parent, to always be there besides the students "like the wall of Jericho" and that he is "getting better at Kungfu" to protect them from anybody who would want to rob them off their dreams.
So far, the Governor has visited students at The Kenya High School in Nairobi, Maranda School in Siaya and Alliance High School last week.
