The Teachers Service Commission is expected to recruit an additional 30,000 teachers by January this coming year.

According to a statement by the presidential working committee on education, this employment of extra teachers will aid in the transition of pupils to junior secondary schools.

"The Government will also recruit an additional 30,000 teachers by January 2023 to facilitate the transition and bridge the teacher shortage."The report by the presidential working committee stated.

The Presidential Working Party on Education Reform has also recommended that the just concluded Grade 6 assessment will not be used for placement in Junior Secondary schools.

In the report, the stakeholders said the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will be used to monitor learning progress.

The task force also recommended that an extra classroom and laboratory will be built in every primary school. The exercise would be given priority within the next year. Members of Parliament were asked to work towards providing support for the extra facilities.

On the other hand, primary schools neighboring secondary schools will share the laboratories and other facilities with junior secondary schools.
