The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has made an announcement to teachers who served as interns in 2022.The commission is expected to employ 35,550 teachers as promised by president William Ruto before the schools reopen.
The recruitment of the 35,550 teachers is the first phase of absorbing 116,000 teachers after the commission stated it is short of 114,581 teachers.According to TSC,10,000 of the teachers will be employed on permanent and pensionable basis with 9,000 being allocated to secondary schools and the rest to primary schools.The remaining 25,550 teachers will be employed as interns,21,550 will be allocated to junior secondary schools while the remaining 4,000 will be allocated to primary schools.
According to reports by Citizen Tv Kenya,Joseph Mugele the TSC acting director of staffing stated that the commission will absorb all the serving interns on permanent and pensionable terms.Joseph Mugele issued good news to the current intern teachers by requesting the human resource director not to remove the interns from the payroll.
