Herman Manyora is a University of Nairobi Professor. Yesterday he posted on his Twitter account that Kakamega School charging each student nearly ten thousand for the repair of a burnt dormitory is robbery. He went ahead and said that if it is going to be paid, then the current Principal must be transferred.
It should be remembered that two dormitories were burnt a week ago in that institution. It is something that made the administration close the school indefinitely.
Manyora's sentiments have elicited different reactions. Here are some of them.
Ndege Nakuru @Nakurundege. That amount is even less. They gave a breakdown of the damages. There weren't alterations.
Claudia Otieno @otieno. The price of our children's indiscipline is expensive. We need to give our kids from home.
Arnold Lutalala @Arnold. Do you mean only the principal who came up with the idea? The Board of Management was involved as well as the Ministry of Works. Why do want to crucify him?
In my opinion, parents should not be fined too much. The government should access the damage and give authorise the money to be paid by each student.
