The new curriculum in the Kenya's education system have not stabilize ever since implemented. So the big discussion have been where the junior secondary school should be placed. Should it be place in Highschool setting or in Primary school?
The first students in the competency-based curriculum are planned to enter Grade 7, which is a junior secondary, while students in Standard 8 are also anticipated to move on to Form One as defined by the previous 8-4-4 system.
The move of the new curriculum's pioneers to their junior secondary schools is still shrouded in doubt, though. Whether students will enroll in secondary schools or continue their secondary education while in the primary section is still a subject of debate.
Former Kenya National Union of Teachers Secretary-General Wilson Sossion now says that in the meetings that have been held in the recent past, he is told people have unanimously agreed that the students should take their junior secondary education while in the primary section.
