HELB delivers sad news to students

The Higher Education Loans Board is a financial board that supports students by giving them loans so that the money can assist them in their studies.

So far, HELB has supported a lot of university and college students across the country. This past Wednesday, the 29th September 2021, CEO Charles Ringera has delivered sad news to students in universities and colleges, especially those who depend on the HELB loans.

He stated that a Ksh2.2 billion budget cut in March limited the capacity for a lot of students to miss out on the loans.

Initially, each university and college student got at least an average of Ksh45,000. But the budget has made it very difficult for the board to disburse money to students.

Ringera said that the 2020-2021 year has been lost since they never received any cash from the treasury. Which simply means that students will not receive any money in their banks as well.
