The Education CS Professor George Magoha has said that the Ministry of Education will start the form one selection exercise on May 28th this year. The Ministry has announced all the available choices in all public secondary schools in the country assuring parents that all KCPE candidates will secure places in the schools.
All national schools in Kenya have a total of 30,000 places for the KCPE candidates who just completed their exams. The 531 Extra-County Schools have 123,399 slots, County Schools have 142,358 slots while the Sub-County ones have 685,590.
However, Professor Magoha has cautioned those parents colluding with the ministry officials in trying to meddle with the exercise. He said students will be assigned different schools fairly and any unscrupulous actions won't be accepted. He insisted that all students are equal and stand equal chances of joining various schools.
Only 8,091 candidates had 400 marks and above. They will be selected to join the 103 national schools in the country. A total of 282,090 candidates had between 300 and 399 marks. The selection exercise will depend on a number of factors which include; the candidate's choice, where they come from and equality.
