The government of Kenya supports free of charge primary and secondary schools education. The government is much concerned to ensure the right to Education for all. Students at Secondary Schools levels who are in boarding schools pay only meals fee and boarding fees whereas those in day schools benefit fully in free Education apart from paying lunch fees.
The ministry of education is in the process of ensuring it meets out the 100 percent transition policy from primary to Secondary Schools. This time round, the Education Cabinet Secretary is conducting the mop up exercise which is aimed at fulfilling the full transition policy.
In his latest tour at Kajiado county while promoting the mop up exercise, the Education Cabinet secretary Professor George Magoha directed that students from poor backgrounds who intended to join boarding schools but failed due to fees, to join day schools.
Parents and students are Joyful now as they receive good news from the Education sector. Five students who come from poor backgrounds but perform well in school are now set to get education scholarships known as 'go green'. The scholarship programs will be offered in forty seven counties. This is good news to poor students they are encouraged to work hard to benefit from them.
