School Re-Opening Dates Changed, Education CS George Magoha Confirms

Earlier on the education CS George Magoha ordered basic learning institutions to close and allow sufficient time and resources for IEBC officers to prepare for elections. This was a necessary measure as most schools across the country are used as polling centers. Following that announcement, the CS added that all schools would re-open on Thursday, 11th August 2022. However, the CS has today come out again and changed the re-opening date to Monday, 15th August 2022.

Here is what the CS said on Wednesday, 10th August 2022. "I ordered the early closure of all Basic Education Institutions to allow for adequate preparation and conduct of the General Elections. We indicated that re-opening would be on the 11th August 2022." The ongoing voter counting in the nation has prompted the ministry of education to make a further announcement, and here is what the CS added to the above statement.

"Therefore, following further consultations, I hereby convey the Government's decision that Basic Education Institutions will re-open from Monday, 15th August 2022." The CS apologized for any inconveniences caused and emphasized that this latest announcement supersedes earlier communications on basic education institutions.
