Teachers Service Commission is a Constitution Commission charged with mandate to manage human resources in education sector in the country. The commission is responsible of staffing in public schools in the country.
Early this month, TSC advertised 35,000 teaching vacancies in primary and secondary schools. This was according to President William Ruto directive to employ more teachers for Junior Secondary Schools. Of 35,000 teachers 10, 000 teachers will be employed on permanent and pensionable terms while the rest will serve as interns.
Online application ended yesterday and TSC is now in process generating merit list. Details have now emerged that Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) want TSC to halt the recruitment process.
KUPPET Secretary General Akello Misori want teachers employer to suspend recruitment to pave way for consultation. This now put the whole process in jeopardy. This comes at a time President William Ruto has warned MPs against hijacking the recruitment process.
