Jamleck Muturi, is the current TSC chairperson who assumed office on Tuesday this week. The new chairperson has promised teachers that the 2017-2021 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) will be implemented in full as as soon as possible.
According to Jamleck, teachers should be motivated in order to work well in their learning institutions. This comes after KNUT has been in quarrels with TSC over the manner in which the commission implemented the CBA.
The introduction of Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) by the Commission has been the cause of court battles between Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT).
Muturi also noted that while in office, he will seek to improve the quality of teaching in schools by providing post-college programs for teachers.
The TSC chairperson says that just like lawyers, and other professionals, teachers should also undergo post-graduate training in order to improve the services the deliver to learners.
This comes as good news to teachers who have been struggling to balance between teaching and upgrading their studies.
