University of Nairobi abbreviated UoN is one of the best universities in East and Central parts of Africa. It was established in the year 1955 as the Royal Technical College. It is one of the earliest higher education institutions in East And Central Africa. The institution is currently headed by Professor Stephen Gitahi Kiama who is the Vice Chancellor.
The university is located along Riverside Drive, off Waiyaki street in Nairobi city, the capital city of Kenya. University of Nairobi offers various diploma and degree courses at various undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It has an approximate student population of 99000. The university has been able to produce competent individuals with skills required in the job market.
The university boasts of some of the best modern infrastructures. These infrastructures enables the teacher to execute their teaching activities effectively. The modern laboratories and libraries allows students to conduct their studies and research works efficiently and effectively.
In addition, University of Nairobi also has some of the modern students residential halls. These hostels are fitted with electricity and water sources. The university also offers a variety of co-curriculum activities like soccer, athletics, basketball, volleyball, netball etc. It has produced many celebrated Kenyan athletes. For example, the famous Kenyan sprinter Ferdinand Omanyala.
