Latest Announcement From The Government On Reopening Of Schools

The government, through the Ministry of Education has announced that it has put in place measures to manage the looming crisis ahead of the reopening of schools.

Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has assured the head of schools that there will be cush crunch, when learners resume classes next week.

Appearing before the Members of Parliament on Thursday, October 7, Magoha assured the lawmakers that the government will disburse funds to score before classes resume.

"Schools will be opened on Tuesday, next week. Let me assure you that the Ksh17 billion required will be available before then," the CS stated.

Magoha further warned the school heads against sending students away because of school fees.

"No child should charged extra levy and no child should be sent home. If you have such cases, bring them to our attention. I am sure the Teachers Service Commission will take action," Magoha remarked.

However, Magoha asked parents who are able to pay school fees for their children to do so, since they play a key role in the fainancing of development projects in schools.
