Low Back To School Turn Out Recorded In Garisa And Mandera

I/CDue to the ongoing drought season, a low back to school turn out has been recorded in Garisa and Mandera counties.

Speaking to the press, county officials have appealed to the goverment to interview and supply adequate food and water to the residents.

"Serikali iingilie kati na kutuletea maji na chakula, watoto wetu wameshindwa kurudi shule sababu ya njaa, wako huku nje na wazazi wao kwa hali ya kutafuta maji kwa ajili yao na mifugo yao"

The president through minister Wamalwa supplied food to the drought strike areas within the course of the month but counties have claimed that it was not enough to reach everyone and are appealing for more.

On the other hand they are requesting that food be offered in schools to enable the going children be able to servive through the day as certain schools don't offer lunch, tea or porridge breaks making it hard for them to go for longer hunger hours and concentrate on their learning.
