Teachers serving under Board of Management can now smile after the teachers union Kenyan National Union of Teachers and KUPPET intervened in their salaries. News reaching us indicate that primary school teachers who are serving on BOM are paid as little as sh. 5000 while those in secondary get paid as little as sh. 10000.
KNUT Secretary General Akello Misori and KUPPET chair Amboko Milemba say that they have talked to school heads to increase the salaries of the teachers serving on BOM. They say that they have proposed that those primary school BOM teachers should be paid sh. 10000 while those in secondary schools should be paid sh. 15000.
These comes after cries from the BOM teachers on the little pay they get and the harassment they undergo through in the hands of school heads. Akello Misori and Amboko Milemba say that they have reached an agreement with school heads and that very soon BOM teachers will start receiving their reviewed salaries.
