Ministry of Education send a Warning to All Form One Parents Ahead of August Reopening

All the 2020 KCPE candidates are expected to be admitted to Form one in August after many uncertainties in the Education sector courtesy of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Candidates were expected to join Form one this January but this was not possible since the National examinations were delayed last year when all schools had to shut down due to COVID-19.

With parents now racing against time to find schools fees for their children, the Ministry of Education has today sent a warning to all parents ahead of reopening.

Speaking to the Standard, Education PS Jwan has warned parents to be careful on the fees they wil be told to pay by various schools.

According to Jwan, some schools boards are planning to demand illegal fees from parents ahead of the Form One admission.

Jwan has warned all parents to be vigilant and report any case to the Ministry where they will be required to pay excess fees.

Some school principals who spoke to the Standard have however complained that they are forced to demand for heavy fees from parents because the government is underfunding them.

It is thus not easy for them to carry out school development projects such as improving the school Infrastructure to accommodate new students.

Due to this reason, they have no option but to demand more fee to cater for some of these school initiatives.
