According to kenyans.co.ke, a police report indicated that before the incident the teacher on duty mobilized students to attend evening classes but some did not and instead remained in the dormitory.
The teacher noticed this and went on to force them back to class,however, one student sneaked back and torched one cube that housed 20 students.
several of the student properties were destroyed. students in collaboration with some of the staff helped to put out the fire before it spread to other cubes.
At least 50 students inhaled dangerous smoke while putting out the fire, they were rushed to the Metropolitan hospital in Buruburu, Nairobi.
According to the police report, investigations are underway to establish if there were other accomplices of the crime.
