KICD Gives The Following Directives To Teachers On Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) Implementation

The Ministry of Education under the leadership of professor George Magoha as the current cabinet secretary has been working round the clock to ensure that teaching sector delivers the best and relevant content to learners.

In a bid to implement a new curriculum, the Ministry of Education is expected to implement Competence Based Curriculum (CBC). The curriculum is set to replace the existing 8:4:4 curriculum that has been in place for decades.

However, even as the ministry strive to implement CBC, there has been a series of stumbling blocks towards the implementation of CBC, for instance, there has been outcries from parents on the kind of assignments given to learners by teachers.

In response to this concern, The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) has now come in place to arrest the situation. According to the latest reports, KICD has now told teachers in both primary and secondary schools to give reasonable assignments to learners.

KICD also called on parents to offer any support required by providing relevant materials to learners to ensure smooth implementation of the curriculum.
