Big Win To Examiner Teachers As CS Makes This Move That Could Increase Their Pay, Improve Welfare.

The Kenya national examination council is the sole government agency that manages national examinations in primary, Secondary and colleges for certification and placement purposes.

Because the agency doesn't have employees of its own, it depends on the hired services of teachers employed by teachers service commission.

Over the years, teachers have been decrying of poor pay and working conditions in the marking centers.

In the just released KCSE exam, CRE examiners threatened to boycott the marking exercise forcing the intervention of KNEC to avert the crisis.

While releasing the results, Education cabinet secretary Ezekiel machogu urged teachers to put the interest of candidates and the country First ahead of their own.

"The hiccup that was experienced at one of the marking centres threatened to derail the marking exercise but KNEC was able to intervene. I wish to urge professionals who are engaged in national exercises to put the interest of the nation first", said Machogu

However, he promised that the agencies concerned will look into the welfare of examiners and their remuneration with a view to Improving them.
