Uncertainty in Maranda High School as Covid 19 Hits

In the course of last weekend one of the Maranda Boys High School tested positive of the covid 19, the student had travelled from Mombasa and after spending almost two weeks in school.

The student was tested after his health deteriorated and was confirmed to have contacted covid 19 , he was transferred to Bondo Sub County Hospital for self isolation.

It is after this incident that the school administration and the Siaya county covid-19 response team decided to start tracing some of the students who are being suspected that he could have easily mingled with.

Out of 28 students who had been tested by kenya Medical Research institute (KEMRI) laboratory in Kisumu, 10 students tested positive this was confirmed by Siaya county health department.

Siaya County Health Chief Officer Eunice Fwaya said that the country emergency response team was exermining students to establish students who should be transferred to Bondo for Isolation.

" The cases were from the first student who tested positive earlier this week" Dr. Fwaya told Nation.

The country Health response team have also argued that the cost of testing over 600 students is very high and they may not be able to carry out the exercise and that's the reason why they are doing contact tracing.
