Studies in public universities could be disrupted if lectures mark good there threat and go on strike beginning Monday.Close to 20000 universities staff from 35 institution are preparing to go on strike for an infinite period in protest over unpaid salary enhancement arrears by the government.
In a letter to vice -chancellor, university and academic staff union secretary general Constantine Wasonga said on Monday, the institution have failed to implement the 2007/21 collective bargaining agreement to resolve the matter.
The strike shall begin on Monday 30th August 2021, with no negotiations, the studies of more than 600,000 students likely to be disrupted,as for few weeks into the start of new academic calendar in September for new academic year.
Mr Wasonga says no learning will be required to take place in an public universities until the agreement between lectures and the government,he says all public universities and their constituent colleges shall not resume duty until the UASUPUCF 2007/21 collective is implemented.
