President William Ruto has promised to abolish Helb and TVET funding to pave way for establishment of National Skills and funding Council to connect the two levels in order to provide a credit transfer framework and to support academic progression.
This comes after subsidies on essential commodities were scrapped off, Linda mama, pesa Kwa wazee and kazi mtaani were abolished.
President William Ruto says that scraping HELB and TVET funding will help double the loans to students, using the new way he's going to establish.
The first in command said that by scraping Helb and TVET loans, education crisis in universities will be fixed.
He said that the two will connect the two levels of education and provide a credit transfer framework that will efficiently support academic progression.
University funding board will be established to bridge the existing 45 percent higher education funding gap, this body will double the loans making it sufficient to the borrowers.
