The deployment of P1 teachers who had successfully graduated from various universities to high school has been brought to an end by the Teachers Service Commission, TSC.
The promotions were concluded and letters for all successful candidates were sent to them through the county directors.
Over 1,000 promotion posts were advertised in 2019 and another 1,000 in September 2020. Practising P1 teachers with degree and a grade of C+ at KCSE were given 2,000 slots to teach in secondary schools.
Applications were done online through TSC portal that was provided. Manual applications were not allowed since the commission has embraced digital platform for all it's activities.
Successful teachers will see themselves landing at job group C 2 with a starting salary scale of Ksh 34,955 and of course allowances.
The total number of primary school teachers so far promoted are 16,152. The interviews were conducted in December last year and February 2021.
According to TSC, those promotions were part of the final phase of the 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreements, CBA, that is expected to end by July 1, 2021.
It's now officially that the exercise has been closed though some teachers says that is just but a drop in the ocean since there are so many of them who have been locked out.
