TSC announces another 11,000 Job Opportunities to Interested Candidates

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has now put it clear regarding the planned Teachers Recruitment drive in the country.

As reported by the, TSC says that there are 5,000 employment opportunities to Teachers and other more 6,000 Internship opportunities, totaling to 11,000 Openings for the Qualified interested Candidates.

TSC Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia says the move to employ more Teachers will help the Commission prepare for the Students entering Junior Secondary Schools next year, 2023.

While addressing during the release of the KCSE 2021 results, Macharia said that the majority of the Recruited Teachers will be taken to Subcounty school which admits bulk number of students.

"During the impending recruitment, we will put more emphasis on staffing subcounty secondary schools, which admits the bulk of learners," she stated.

The TSC boss has further stated that the Treasury has put aside kshs 2.5 billion that will be used to employ teachers on permanent and pensionble terms for the year 2022)2023.

She further stated that the government has also allocated kshs 1.2 billion for the employing more teacher on Internship in order to help reduce the teacher shortage in the country.

"The government has allocated the TSC kshs 1.2 billion to recruit 6,000 interns as a stop gap measure to ease the shortage which stand at 114,581 teachers," Macharia said.

She concluded that the government has also planned to train 60,000 teachers that will be incharge of the upcoming Junior Secondary School classes, Grade 7 and 8 under the current competence Based curriculum (CBC).
