Just a day after the ministry of education released results for selection of 2023 form one in various secondary schools, the government in partnership with Equity Group Foundation and the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation has announced scholarship to needy and disadvantaged learners who attained 280 marks and above in 2022 KCPE exam.
The program which is known as Elimu Scholarship was published on Tuesday, 17th January on local dailies targeting students who meet the minimum requirements across the 47 counties.
However, despite the consideration indicated, learners with special needs, disabilities as well as orphaned will be given first priority for the scholarship. In addition some special cases will be considered to lower the marks to as low as 240 marks for learners from refugee camps.
"Only candidates who sat the 2022 KCPE exams from public schools and those from camp-based primary schools in Kakuma, Kalobeyei and Dadaab are eligible," stated part of the statement.
To apply, interested learners are expected to collect the Scholarship application forms from any Equity Bank branch or Equity bank agent or Sub County Directors of Education offices near.
However, the application forms can also be downloaded from either Ministry of Education, the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation and Equity Group Foundation websites as follows; www.education.go.ke, www.jkf.co.ke and https:/egfdmis.equitybank.co.ke/register.elimu respectively.
Complete filled forms with supportive documents are to be submitted latest by 5pm on Monday, 23rd January in either Equity branch, Equity bank agent, or sub-county Directors of Education offices near.
Further shortlisted candidates will be accompanied by their parents or Guardian during the interviews phase which will be conducted afterwards.The scholarship will cater for School fees, Transport to and from School, School Uniform as well as pocket money for the beneficiaries.
